Project

Reconstruction of a farmhouse – Louny

600 cows used to be housed in a cowshed on a farm in northwest Bohemia. After the current owners bought it, the building was in a state of disrepair. But instead of being demolished, this historic building has been given a chance for a new life - and an extraordinary transformation.

About the project

The farmhouse has undergone a complete reconstruction – from the original elements only the roof truss and parts of the perimeter walls were saved and restored. It was necessary to design new partitions, windows, plastering, bathrooms, wiring and finally the interior itself. The challenge was also the original sandstone staircase, which was in a really desolate state. In the end, we managed to create a concrete staircase in the same shape as the original sandstone one, whose finish – trowel – fitted beautifully into the renovation concept.

Most of the elements that make up the interior were custom-made. The furniture was handled by a cabinetmaker, while the fireplace and bathroom linings are by ProCeram. In the main bathroom, we used original, old wood for the wall cladding with windows. The lighting was supplied by PROFI lighting, the textiles are predominantly linen products from Castello del Barro, Christian Fischbacher and Designers Guild.
